O design e desenvolvimento do Moodle seguem uma filosofia de aprendizagem muito particular, um modo de pensar do qual pode ouvir falar, em termos abreviados, como "pedagogia socio-construcionista". (Alguns de vocês, mais virados para a ciência, já devem estar a pensar "tretas...educação ligeira..." e a chegar a mão ao rato, mas por favor continuem a ler isto é útil para todos os assuntos!)

Esta página tenta explicar em termos simples o que aquela frase significa explorando os quatro principais conceitos por detrás dela. Note que cada um deles resume um olhar sobre uma imensa quantidade de variada investigação pelo que estas definições podem parecer vagas se já tinha lido sobre estes assuntos antes.

Se estes conceitos são inteiramente novos para si, então é provável que estas ideias sejam, a princípio, difíceis de entender só posso recomendar que as leia cuidadosamente, ao mesmo tempo pensando na sua própria experiência em tentar aprender qualquer coisa.

1. Construtivismo

Este ponto de vista defende que as pessoas constroem activamente novo conhecimento ao interagirem com o seu ambiente.

Tudo o que lê, vê, ouve, sente e toca é confrontado com o seu conhecimento anterior e se for plausível dentro do seu universo mental, pode formar novo conhecimento que você passa a transportar. O conhecimento é fortalecido se o puder usar com sucesso no seu ambiente alargado. Você não é apenas um banco de memória que passivamente absorve a informação, nem pode o conhecimento ser "transmitido" para si simplesmente lendo algo ou ouvindo alguém.

Não quer isto dizer que não pode aprender ao ler uma página web ou estando numa aula, claro que pode, só enfatiza que há mais interpretação a acontecer do que uma mera transferência de informação de um cérebro para o outro.

2. Construcionismo

O construcionismo afirma que a aprendizagem é particularmente eficaz quando construíndo algo para outros experimentarem. Isto pode ser qualquer coisa desde uma frase dita ou uma pequena publicação na internet, a artefactos mais complexos como uma pintura, uma casa ou um pacote de software.

Por exemplo, pode ler esta página várias vezes e ainda assim esquecer-se dela já amanhã mas se tentasse explicar estas ideias a outra pessoa usando as suas próprias palavras, ou fizesse uma apresentação que explicasse estes conceitos, então garanto-lhe que teria uma melhor compreensão que seria mais integrada nas suas ideias. Por isto é que as pessoas tomam notas durante as aulas, mesmo quando não voltam a olhar para elas. +

3. Construtivismo Social

Quando alguém está imerso numa cultura deste género, está a todo o momento a aprender como ser parte dessa cultura, a diversos níveis.

Um exemplo bastante simples é um objecto como uma caneca. Este objecto pode ser usado para várias coisas, mas a sua forma sugere algum "e;conhecimento" sobre o conter de um líquido. Um exemplo mais complexo é o de um curso on-line não só as "formas" das ferramentas de software indicam certas coisas sobre a maneira como estes cursos devem funcionar, mas também as actividades e textos produzidos no seio do grupo como um todo vão ajudar a definir como cada pessoa se comporta dentro dele.

4. Ligados e Separados
+
+
Esta ideia entra mais a fundo nas motivações dos indivíduos no seio de uma discussão. Comportamento de separação existe quando alguém tenta permanecer "objectivo" e "factual", e tende a defender as suas ideias usando a lógica para encontrar falhas nas ideias dos seus opositores. Comportamento de ligação é uma abordagem de maior empatia que aceita a subjectividade, tentando ouvir e colocando questões numa tentativa de compreender o outro ponto de vista. Comportamento construído existe quando uma pessoa é sensível a ambas as abordagens e é capaz de escolher entre elas de acordo com a situação.

Em geral, uma dose saudável de comportamento de ligação numa comunidade de aprendizagem é um poderoso estimulante desta mesma aprendizagem, não só aproximando as pessoas como promovendo uma reflecção mais profunda e um re-pensar dos seus ideais presentes.

Uma vez pensando em todas estas questões, vai conseguir concentrar-se melhor nas experiências que seriam melhores para aprender do ponto de vista do aluno, em vez de apenas publicar e avaliar a informação que pensa que eles necessitam. Pode também ajudá-lo a perceber como cada participante num curso pode também ser docente para além de aluno. O seu trabalho como "docente" pode passar de ser "a fonte de conhecimento" a ser uma influência e um modelo de cultura do conhecimento, comunicando com os alunos num modo pessoal que vai de encontro às suas necessidades de aprendizagem, e moderando discussões e actividades de um modo que colectivamente encaminha os alunos para os objectivos de aprendizagem da disciplina.

É óbvio que o Moodle não força este tipo de comportamento, mas é nisto que é exímio. Futuramente, logo que a infraestrutura técnica do Moodle comece a estabilizar, novos melhoramentos no suporte pedagógico serão a direcção principal do seu desenvolvimento.
